Hyperlite Aiders

I am old with short legs. I bought 6 Hyperlite sticks to get up 25 feet in the tree. I made a single step amsteel aider for each stick. I took 56" of 7/64 amsteel and made a continous loop with two tripple brumel splices with full burrys. Before splicing the loop I threaded a 12" piece of vaccum hose to act as a spreader. On the other end I threaded 2" of tublar webbing over the loop. I put a castration band arround the webbing to hold it in place. The amsteel loop was threaded through the bottom hole in the stick and over the stand offsets. The webbing was pushed throuh the hole in the botton of the stick to act as insulation between the amsteel and stick. I hung the stand and centered the tubing step and marked each end of the tubing with a silver marker. I then slid the tubing exposing the marked section of amsteel. I then put a liberal coating of black silicone on the amsteel before sliding the tubing over the coated amsteel. I allowed the silicone to cure. Now the step is affixed to the amsteel. This mod does not invalidate the sticks warranty and doubles their length adding only 4 oz to the stick weight. The aiders pack up providing insulation between the sticks quieting them down when stacked.

Could be great, but needs a lot of tweaking.

The most glaring failure with this stick is the attachment method. The amsteel prusick method is just bad. I called Trophyline and they agreed that it was bad and said they had some daisy chains coming out soon to work with these sticks. I have a bunch of Amsteel daisy chains that I use with my lone wolf sticks so I tried every way I could think of to use them with these sticks. I couldn’t find a way that I felt was secure or that made feel safe.

In a perfect world these sticks would ship with a versa button and a cam strap, or a method similar to tethrd, or the new lattitude sticks.

That being said, Trophyline is really on to something with this material, it’s crazy light, it’s pretty loud but that’s an easy fix. The foot beds are great, the sticks don’t hurt your feet.

If trophyline pursues this line of sticks, then I imagine they will get better every year. I look forward to seeing what they become.

Lite and packable.

Ordered the extra stick as it was just as easy and light as using extra aiders.

Hyperlite sticks

Haven’t had a chance to use them yet but they are incredibly lite! And they stack tight tight.

Worth it

Unbelievable what a difference the light weight makes.
